A new Chinese-Israeli car brand hoping to woo customers in China with a mix of quality and affordability is having a harder-than-expected time getting its name out, its top executive said. Qoros Automotive Co. Chairman and Chief Executive Guo Qian said awareness of the new Chinese auto brand in its home market is below company expectations. Speaking at an industry conference Thursday (16 October 2014), Mr. Guo said Chinese car buyers prefer mature brands. °If a new brand wants to be accepted, it takes a lot of effort, ± he said, adding that awareness of Qoros in China is °far away from expectations.± The Qoros 3 sedan, its first car, was released in China late last year with a price tag starting at 119, 900 yuan ($19, 600). Mr. Guo said sales in recent months were in °a reasonable range± compared with other product launches by other companies in China, without disclosing specifics. Qoros doesn¯t disclose monthly sales figures.
