A controversial landfill site which nearby residents say emits smells. In December 2020 the Environment Agency revealed it received nearly 600 complaints about smells coming from the quarry in just two months. Walley's Quarry accounted for 23 per cent of all odour complaints submitted to the Environment Agency in October – 225 out of 992 – and 17 per cent of those lodged in September – 371 out of 2, 223. The EA received 1, 539 complaints about the landfill site over the last 12 months. Red Industries insisted the site complied with its environmental permit.
