Altre informazioni:
The Hardy Tree has been a natural landmark in St Pancras Gardens, near St Pancras Station in the London Borough of Camden for over 150 years. During the creation of the railway lines in 1860 into St Pancras Station, a large section of the graveyard of the former parish church of St Pancras, now St Pancras Old Church, was removed. The headstones from the graves were piled up around a nearby ash tree. The author Thomas Hardy as an architect before he became a writer was involved in the work. Over time the tree expanded around the headstones and in recognition of his work it became known as the Hardy Tree. The tree had been known since 2019 as being in danger of collapse and had been heavily pollarded and an exclusion area had been created around it. However, in the seasonal high winds of Christmas 2022 the tree finally collapsed destroying this unique and much loved natural monument.
