Two girls were unfamiliar with each other but suffered same the same fate to some extent in central China's Henan. The 5-year-old "sponge girl" Lele was diagnosed with Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), a rare neuromuscular disorder and often leading to early death, when she was 11 months old. She can't stand or sit upright by herself. And Lele loved playing with her dolls at home as she was not capable of going out with friends to avoid being infected with germs. Another 6-year-old "butterfly girl" Li Yeqing was diagnosed with Epidermolysis bullosa (EB), which would cause blisters in the skin and mucosal membranes. Li was so smart that she can remember Three Hundred Tang Poems after reading the poems. She was eager to go to school and study more knowledge. But her fingers adhered together due to the illness and she can't write. Li was sensitive and she would hide her hands when she heard someone raise questions about her fingers.
