Ajisen (China), one of China s largest fast food chains, will face a penalty of 200, 000 yuan (31, 500 U.S. dollars) if it fails to challenge an administrative fine imposed by the Shanghai Administration for Industry and Commerce on Saturday. The fast food chain that features Japanese noodles with pork bone stock raised eyebrows in July, following a food safety scandal in which it was accused of using concentrates and flavoring powders to make its noodle soup base. The company had admitted in a statement that concentrated liquid, instead of pork bones, was used to make the soup base, but still insisted that ingredients of its seasonings were extracted from pork bones.
