Rijeka, Croatia – August 7, 2012: Old leaning bell tower of St. Mary's church in Rijeka, Croatia. The beginings of the Rijeka bell tower date from the 14th century. The building underwent many renovations and changes in its architectural style during its history, which were often related to construction works at the neighboring Saint Mary of the Assumption church. The present shape of the tower date back to 1824, when renovation works were made on already leaning construction and significantly to 1876, when general repair and mortar work took place. It remains one if the few preserved medieval structures in Rijeka. The inclination of the tower is believed to be more than 40cm.
