The French National Day is the anniversary of Storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789, a turning point of the French Revolution, as well as the Fête de la Fédération which celebrated the unity of the French people on 14 July 1790. Celebrations are held throughout France.The units of instruction and intervention of the civil security (UIISC) are French units of fight against the fires and of relief having a military operation. Even if they do not officially carry the title, their missions are very close to those of the firefighters . They are part of the Army and belong to the weapon of the Genie, like the Brigade of the firemen of Paris. Their role is to intervene to fight disasters and calamities, in national reinforcement of local means (municipal, departmental, national) or during disasters abroad. Unlike firefighters who protect people and property in a municipality or territory, they do not have territorial jurisdiction and intervene where the Directorate General of Civil Protection sends them. Their name is that of lifeguards and not firefighters, even if their uniform looks like that of the latter (without the red piping along the pants). Their basic training is identical to that of firefighters (with, in addition, their military training). The UIISC rescue engineers are operational 7 days a week and 24 hours a day. Corte is a commune in the Haute-Corse department of France on the island of Corsica. It is the fourth-largest commune in Corsica after Ajaccio, Bastia, and Porto-Vecchio. UIISC 5 The 1 st July 1984, a squadron of UIISC 7 is set up in Corte. The March 24 , 1988, this detachment becomes the UIISC 5. It received its corps pennant on April 5 , 1991. The UIISC 5 is made up of a hundred men. It consists of an intervention company divided into 3 intervention sections. In addition to the operational component, the unit is also a training center and welcomes several trainees throughout the year.
