Dominique Pouliquen, President of Alstom China, speaks during a press briefing for the inauguration of the new hydropower manufacturing facility of Alstom Hydro China Co., Ltd. in Tianjin, China, 4 Novemebr 2010. Alstom announced Thursday (4 November 2010) it has inaugurated its new hydropower manufacturing facility in Tianjin, China. The new facility will enable the company to respond to demand from custmers in Asia more efficiently. China is seeing further expansion in the hydropower sector, so there is every reason to build this facility there. Alstom already has a manufacturing operation in China, alst in Tianjin, but the new facility will soon take over completely. The construction of the new facility will happen in two phases, the first one being already operational. The whole project represents an investment of about 110 million euro. This will also be the companys first carbon-neutral facility in China, using 43% less energy, and having environmentally friendly solutions such as rainwater recycling and solar PV panels for producing power for HVAC operation. The new facility will be able to output up to 30 generators, with capacities ranging from 20 to 1000 MW.
