China's box office totaled 20.4 billion yuan, or 3.3 billion USD, in the first half of 2015, the nation's media watchdog reported yesterday (15 July 2015), with foreign flicks once again surpassing domestic films in earnings. Domestic movies raked in a total of 9.5 billion yuan in the box office, compared to the 10.8 billion yuan earned by imported films, according to the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SARFT).The Man From Macau 2, starring Chow Yun Fa, was the highest earning among the domestic films at 974 million yuan, followed by Jackie Chan's Dragon Blade (744 million yuan) and the Sino-French epic Wolf Totem. Fast & Furious 7 dominated box office revenue in the first six months, taking 2.4 billion yuan. This was followed the latest installment of The Avengers, bringing in 1.5 billion yuan, and Jurassic World which took 1.3 billion yuan.
