China's AI unicorn SenseTime announced a strategic partnership with Qualcomm Incorporated on Wednesday (15 November 2017), a move to develop its original AI algorithms, according to a post on SenseTime's official WeChat account. The strategic investment from US chipmaker Qualcomm will play an important role in driving the evolvement in mobile and on-device technologies through artificial intelligence (AI), the post said. The approach of combining algorithms and chipsets will redefine next-generation on-device intelligence, the post noted. Through the investment, SenseTime's original AI algorithm will take advantage of Qualcomm Technologies' chipset in order to cultivate a brand new AI ecosystem. Meanwhile, the strategic investment will enable SenseTime's original AI algorithm to go global at a faster pace, the post pointed out.
