Kerr, president of the Texas State Florists' Association, sent a let- ter stating that he wished to meet the florists of New Orleans and vicinity during his stop-over here on his way to Chicago to attend a meeting of the board of directors of the S. A. F. He expected to be here February 24. His object is to form a Southern State Hor- ticultural Society. The society voted that a telegram be sent to Mr. Kerr assuring him that the N. O. H. S. would be glad to see him, and communications were sent to other florists in and out of town, not belonging to the society, asking them to come and join in the welcome to Mr. Kerr. A general discussion on lilies, hydrangeas and bulbous stock followed. Henry Mische sent in an application for membership. Various Notes. Abele Bros, report a big increase in their shipping trade. They have a fine lot of Cineraria hybrida in bloom and are selling them at top prices. P. A. Chopin states that since he has his big store on St. Charles avenue he can sell almost any flowering or foliage plants, provided they are well finished; the price is no object. H. C. Doescher has his big place in fine shape and says that business, both local and shipping, is picking up nicely. C. W. Eiehling has been exceedingly busy with funeral work lately.
