From Photograms of the year published 1926 Huxley photographed by Pirie Macdonald (1867 –1942) Ian Pirie MacDonald photographed over 70, 000 men during his career, many of whom were heads of state, religious leaders, writers and artists. This image is of the writer Aldous Huxley author of Brave New World & The Doors of Perception (From which the band The Doors took their name). Pirie decided as he gained fame that he would photograph only Men (he apparently refused even to take family photographs of Women) He styled himself "Pirie MacDonald - Photographer of Men". All his negatives were destroyed when he died in 1942 in accordance with his wishes, so only the photographs remain.
