Altre informazioni:
Alexandra Palace's Victorian theatre and original BBC television studio are being restored to their former glory. The palace opened in 1873 and was intended as a place for recreation and entertainment for the Victorians. It was named after the then Princess of Wales. But just 16 days after later a fire broke out and the entire palace was burnt to the ground. An Act of Parliament in 1900 created the Alexandra Palace and Park Trust which ordered the palace and surrounding park to remain forever available for public use and enjoyment. In 1935, the BBC leased part of the building and a year later the world's first public television broadcast took place from the studios there. However, a second fire broke out in 1980 destroying a large section of the palace. Following extensive renovation it opened again in 1988 and is living up to the 1900 Act attracting visitors every day.
