A bronze City Commemorative coin issued under Constantine I in 333-334 AD, minted in Trier (Germany). The patina of a coin is the coating of grime and mineral deposits that build over time. Serious collectors place great store in patinas, they are part of the coin and are the story of its age. A good patina should add to the coins appearance but not obscure the detail. With its sandy deposits this coin could be described as having “an attractive desert patina”. The obverse has a figure representing Constantinople, the lettering reads CONSTANTINOPOLIS. The reverse has no lettering but show the figure of Victory.
