'Cassell's Map of London (South sheet)'. Artist/engraver/cartographer: Drawn & Engraved by Edwd. Weller. Provenance: "Cassell's Complete Atlas" (a.k.a. "The Weekly Dispatch Atlas"), Published by Cassell, Petter and Galpin, London [Dispatch London maps]. Type: Antique map with original outline colour. The map also includes Millbank (showing the penitentiary), Walworth, Newington & part of Pimlico. The rail lines then under construction running into Charing Cross rail station and Blackfriars stations (also both under construction) are shown. Bethlehem ("Bedlam") Hospital is marked, close to "Market Gardens" next to the Kennington Road. The Bricklayer's Arms Railway terminus is marked next to the Old Kent Road, although it had been closed to passenger traffic some years earlier. The Grand Surrey Canal is marked.
