Manchester City Council's website on the Stevenson Square Conservation Area says: 'The majority of buildings of architectural and historical interest in the conservation area are Victorian or early 20th Century. Most are related to the cotton industry, often warehouses, showrooms or workshops.' View of the Grade 2 listed 'Watts Brothers' building, a red brick hardware and furniture warehouse, now offices, dating to 1898, Lever Street at Bunsen Street., from the steps to the Real Camera Company, in the Grade 2 Listed Sevendale House. Next to the Watts Brothers Building rises 22 Lever Street, a large red brick, late-Georgian style, Italianate architecture, home trade textile warehouse and workshop, built in 1875. Hollings and Sons, manufacturers of costumes and mantles, were located here in 1900. Today, the building houses offices, studios and showrooms.
