Historic vehicles rally in Przemysl, Poland The Citroën Traction Avant was an automobile produced by the French manufacturer Citroën. About 760, 000 units were manufactured from 1934 to 1957. The Traction Avant, designed by André Lefèbvre and Flaminio Bertoni in late 1933. early 1934, was one of the most successful cars with front wheel drive in the 1930s. "Traction Avant" is French for front wheel drive, literally meaning "frontal traction". The Traction Avant was not the first production front wheel drive car, others included Cord in the United States who released the front wheel drive L29 from 1929 to 1932 and Alvis in the UK with their 1928 FWD.
