How films are made - No. 10 of a series of 25 - Continuity Girl & Director on set. One of a series of cigarette cards illustrating movie making given away by B. Morris & Sons of London in the early 1930s. Cigarette card original size 6.7 x 3.7 cm. Version here suitable for reproduction up to 35.5 x19.2 cm at 300 pixels per inch. The cards were printed lithographically - not half-tone - which gives them a beautiful vintage texture. The description on the back of the card states: "CONTINUITY GIRL. This lady has a very important job in the making of a film. Her duty is to check over details of dress, make-up, arrangement of set, etc., as one scene is very often 'shot' at intervals of some hours, and, in some cases, days. If the hero or any other actor, for instance, is wearing a buttonhole when the first shot is taken, it is her duty to see that it is still there when filming re-commences after an interval." "Facilities for the preparation of this series granted by Gaumont-British Picture Corporation Ltd."
