How films are made - No. 15 of a series of 25 - Making rain. One of a series of cigarette cards illustrating movie making given away by B. Morris & Sons of London in the early 1930s. Cigarette card original size 6.7 x 3.7 cm. Version here suitable for reproduction up to 35.5 x19.2 cm at 300 pixels per inch. The cards were printed lithographically - not half-tone - which gives them a beautiful vintage texture. The description on the back of the card states: "RAIN. Rain is made by water sprinklers above, similar to the sprinklers used in offices, etc., as a protection against fire. You will notice that the camera is under an improvised shelter, and the microphone also is covered with a waterproof wrapper. This particular scene is probably 'shot' a dozen times before the final picture, which you will see on the screen, is taken." "Facilities for the preparation of this series granted by Gaumont-British Picture Corporation Ltd."
