The Puga Valley One more hidden wonder of Himalaya, very less known place in Ladakh region a plateau lies between Tso Moriri and Tso Kar (Salt Valley). Mountain plateau Alt 4300M. Area with tectonic faults to the ascent of hydrothermal fluids, means hot water, mineral deposits and sulfur fumaroles. A three foot thick deposit of borates covers an area of two square miles. The Puga valley lies at a distance of about 22-km to the east of the Salt Lake Valley across the Polokonka La (5, 350 m), also known as Polo La, It is famous for its borax and sulphur deposits and hot water springs. However, the deposits are of little commercial value at present due to the inaccessibility of this valley and the short working season. Hundreds of people suffering from ailments like rheumatism and skin diseases come for a bath in the hot water springs of the Puga Valley. It offers some unique photography opportunities during winter and also grass/wet land for Changpa nomads to herding Pashmina goats and sheep.
