Research project "Qualification des modèles de houle et de morphodynamique" (Description of the various kinds of swells and morphodynamics) on the beach of "Truc Vert". Following the SHOM's initiative, "Service Hydrographique et Océanographique de la Marine" (French Hydrographic Office), coordinated by the EPOC unit (CNRS in French, SERC in GB, NFS in US) of Bordeaux 1, the beach of Truc Vert in Lège Cap Ferret (33) has been converted into a real open-air laboratory. About a hundred geophysicist-researchers of the world took possession of the beach to set up their equipment (sensors and measuring instruments). Objective : analyse the beach dynamics and study the formation of sandbanks, the erosion phenomenon and the backward movement of the coastline. After the data processing, many applications could be considered, from the environmental context (in connection with global warming and the rise of sea level) to the military framework (preparation of landing) (2008/03/07).
