Journalist, Ian Bailey, 46, (right) and his solicitor, Con Murphy, arrives at Cork Circuit Court in County Cork, where he is suing eight British and Irish newspapers in the wake of a brutal murder in County Cork in 1996. Bailey, a former prime suspect in the case of French film-maker Sophie Toscan du Plantier who was found lying in her nightdress, bludgeoned to death in a lane by her Schull farmhouse, is suing the titles for defamation, claiming that their coverage of his arrest and the subsequent inquiry, ruined his life. Manchester-born Bailey, who was eventually released without charge, was the first journalist on the scene but just weeks later was arrested and questioned twice by gardai.
