On its completion in 2009 this pioneering sustainable logistics building also exceeded the Government Criteria Change Bill targets for 2020 and 2050. The development has won numerous national and regional sustainability awards and the 2009 LEAF Best Sustainable Development Award. All materials were chosen for their sustainable properties in quality, durability and recycling potential and the development features environmental innovations ranging from a Biomass power station to the use of kinetic energy plates throughout the building’s infrastructure. The building provides 100% energy and heat from renewable sources, saving 49% on heat and power, 68% on heating, and 68% on water, to provide an overall energy cost in use saving of £300, 000 per annum.
