Historically, the parish of Trefeglwys includes the townships of Bodaioch, Maestrefgomer, Esgeirieth and Dolgwden, whilst a rural area the parish of Trefeglwys is about 8 miles long by 3 miles wide. The village of Trefeglwys sits in the heart of Mid Wales on the B4569 between Caersws and Llanidloes. The river Trannon flows past Trefeglwys on its way to its confluence with the River Severn near Caersws. Surrounded by beautiful Welsh scenery and with close proximity to the historic towns of Llanidloes, Rhayader, and Newtown, Trefeglwys is in a perfect location for exploring this section of Wales. Walkers will enjoy Trefeglwys, with access to many trails through wooded valleys and along the banks of the Trannon. To the north (4 miles as the crow flies) a trio of lakes, Llyn Tarw, Llyn Du and Llyn Mawr offer leisurely walking and plentiful wildlife. It's a place of standing stones and tall skies - a walk on the wild side. The lakes are popular with anglers where trout (from Llyn Tarw and Llyn Du) and pike and perch (from Llyn Mawr) can be caught.
