In front of the Hotel garopa on the island of Sal in the cape verde islands there is a biodiversity project to help save turtles nests from predators both animal and human. nests that are in dangerous areas are dug up and moved to this compound. they are looked after and guarded over-night and when they hatch they are kept in cages over the nests until a good night to relese them. they are made to walk to the sea to strengthen their legs but directed to the sea so that they don't walk towards hotel lights. those at the bottom of the nest, under the broken egg shells of others, are dug up and kept until released.
