June Black appeals for information about missing grandaughter Sarah Benford at Northampton Police HQ. The family of the schoolgirl who has been missing for almost three years made a desperate plea for her to get in touch on her birthday. * Sarah, who will be 17 today, disappeared from a children's home in Northampton and, despite numerous possible sightings, she has never been found. Police today launched a major inquiry into her disappearance in the hope of finally finding the young girl alive. Sarah was only 14 when she went missing from Welford House children's home in April 2000. Her mother Vicki, 36, spotted her three days later in her home town of Kettering but none of her family have seen or heard from her since. They said she used to run away from home when she was younger but would always return within 24 hours. The family have never given up hope that she is alive and well and will one day get in touch. Her grandmother, June Black, 59, told a press conference at Northamptonshire Police Headquarters she still thought about her granddaughter every day.
