Workmen put the finishing touches to one of the capsules which will hang from the London Eye alongside the River Thames in London. The capsules are being stored near Dartford before the first are floated up the river in batches of four later to the site of the giant wheel. *Each of the 32 capsules weighing 1.5 tonnes and built in France by ski-lift company Poma will will take half an hour to travel round the 135 metre high wheel, and provide their passengers with views of up to 25 miles away. Designers chose the egg-shaped capsules to minimise wind resistance, but this initially caused problems as it meant the windows would have an unprecedented amount of curvature and could easily pop out.
