Rippling Moonlit Talk Bridge, Chiayi, Taiwan. Designed by the artist Wen-chih Wang and built in 2011 of aluminium, stainless steel, pottery steel and iron. Concept: The subject structure is a see-through artwork of knitted aluminium plates. It is so designed as to display a magical scene of light and shadow like a birds nest on the lake, a uniquely graceful posture, to correspond to the chirping birds among the luxuriant trees all around and to denote a natural rural surrounding. The four subject characters are to denote the beautiful lake scenery of a boat rowing under the moonlight and the rippling on the lake surface, to connotate confiding chatting of lovers, all conveying the scenic moon, water and cruise images of the Holland Lake. The ceramic pedestal with the water flowing resembles the never ending supply of water, and the splendid display of colours. The upper half of the birds nest in the middle of the artwork in a peach shape symbolizes "the Peach City" as the city was originally called. On one side the tree nests seem to stand out in the shape of a turkey's tail end in association with the renowned local delicacy of "Turkey Rice", incorporating the cultural and sight-seeing characteristics of Chiayi City into the artwork. – from a notice made by Chiayi City Government.
