Altre informazioni:
This is a small island in the middle of a lake - Gougane Barra Lake with a causeway access from the road, located in southwest County Cork. The tiny building is St Finbar's Oratory or chapel. He was a 6th century priest or monk who later became bishop of Cork. There are no remains here from the 6th century but there are monk's cells from the seventeenth - eighteenth centuries behind the chapel. The chapel itself is from the nineteenth century. The pink flowers are rhododendrons which is a foreign, invasive plant casing the destruction of many native irish wild plants. There isn't a postal address for the chapel but the hotel next door gives their address as Ballingeary, Cork, Ireland.
