Biggs had been held in custody at Belmarsh Prison, south east London, after ending his self-imposed exile in Brazil. Biggs flew back to Britain last month after 35 years on the run and was immediately arrested. He made a brief appearance at West London Magistrates Court before being taken to prison to continue the 30-year sentence he was given for his part in the 1963 robbery of a Glasgow to London mail train. 04/8/01: Michael Biggs, son of the Great Train Robber Ronnie Biggs, who was fighting a legal battle to stay at the ailing crook's bedside. Michael has been ordered to quit the country after Home Office officials refused to renew his visa. Now his solicitors are challenging the decision, which will force him to leave Britain before the end of next month. Ronnie is in the medical wing of London's Belmarsh prison brain-damaged and unable to speak or eat after suffering a fourth stroke.
