The solar observatory was created by Dr. Arvind Bhatnagar, being created on the lake to avoid the heat ripple conditions that happen on land. Also visible are some boats next to the observatory, and the shore of the lake is also visible. Fateh Sagar lake is one of the famous lakes in the city of lakes, Udaipur, located in the state of Rajasthan in India. The lake was constructed by the Maharana in 1678, and is one of the more famous lakes in Udaipur, along with Lake Pichola. The lake has 3 islands within it, with the largest island having a size of around 4 square km, called Nehru Park. This island has a popular garden and a restaurant. The lake gets full due to overflow of rain water from the surrounding hills with an overflow channel to take care of excess water. The lake is now used for drinking water, earlier having been used for irrigation. There are roads around the entire perimeter of the lake.
