An unemployed odd-job man Philip Smith, 35, was today July 18th 2001, jailed for life after he admitted murdering three women in four days - including two within hours on Remembrance Sunday. Philip John Smith, 35, of Braithwaite Road, Sparkbrook, Birmingham, changed his plea to guilty mid-way through giving evidence at Leicester Crown Court. The burly former fairground worker had previously denied murdering 21-year-old Jodie Hyde, Rosemary Corcoran, 25, and mother-of-six Carol Jordan in November last year.
