Council chiefs have ordered her son, Burt Barber, 61, of Northampton, to take down the wire he had put around her house to protect her from intruders. * He spent 450 on the wire after Ruby suffered four break-ins, but his local council has told him he must remove it. Mr Barber put the wire on top of the garden fence after the last break-in, two years ago, when thieves stole 100 and a gold watch, which was a family heirloom.
