The Bali Adoption & Rehabilitation Centre (BARC) is a non-profit organization that houses over 120 rescued dogs and puppies. They aim to relieve suffering, starvation, abuse and neglect of the street dogs in Bali. Their Good Karma Vet Clinic is privately owned and helps the shelter to function financially. BARC provides medical care, food, rehabilitation, bedding, sterilization, vaccinations and a whole lot of love to all dogs and puppies within the centre. They aim to educate the community in how to care for and respect animals. They also provide adoption services to suitable homes. They ensure all their dogs are rabies-free and they give all dogs a chance. Any dog brought to BARC will be assessed at the Good Karma Vet Clinic in Ubud, even if they have the slightest chance at life they will do everything possible to give the animal a happy and fulfilling life. Some of the dogs that are not adoptable live out there retirement with them. They are currently raising funds to purchase land to create a sanctuary. All of their dogs have names and personalities and are loved unconditionally. Australian Photographer Patria Jannides has been documenting and working with BARC for a number of years on her regular visits to Bali and hopes her photos will help raise awareness of the on-going need of street dogs everywhere.
