Altre informazioni:
Opening in 2008, Mercia Marina was once an area of farmland. High deposits of gravel sat under the land and was excavated to be used in the making of the A50 road. Once finished the now gravel pit was transformed into a fishing lake. The area was sympathetically planted with native trees and became a reserve. The marina evolved into what it is today with careful guidelines and regulations meeting planning requirements to create a nature reserve it is today. It was linked to the Trent and Mersey Canal and is the also the largest inland marina in Europe. Mercia Marina provides excellent facilities for the boating communities along with tours and holidays, it has become a successful commercial venture.
