Tel Aviv (English pronunciation: /ˌtɛl əˈviːv/[2]), officially Tel Aviv-Yafo (Hebrew: תֵּל־אָבִיב-יָפוֹ, Hebrew pronunciation: [tel ʔäˈviv ˈjäfo] Hebrew for "Spring Mound"-Jaffa; Arabic: تل أبيب Tall ʾAbīb), [3] is the second most populous city in Israel, with a population of 404, 400.[1] The city is situated on the Israeli Mediterranean coastline, in central Israel, on a land area of 51.4 square kilometres (19.8 sq mi).
