Northern Ireland soldier, Colonel Tim Collins who recently returned from service in Iraq, at a cancer campaign launch in Belfast, Northern Ireland, for a new men's 1.5 million cancer clinic at Belfast City Hospital. Colonel Collins, a hero of the Iraqi conflict before being plunged into war crimes allegations, has faced heavy criticism from the family of a suicide victim. Royal Irish Regiment Private Paul Cochrane, 18, shot himself at Drumad Barracks in Co Armagh in 2001 after complaining he was suffering abuse. A Ministry of Defence inquiry was launched into how the soldier's battalion was run under the command of Col Collins. Even though there was no evidence that the officer had given Pte Cochrane a hard time, the dead soldier's family rejected the MoD probe as a farce. 23/10/04: Colonel Tim Collins said that the plans to send British troops to support United States forces in Iraq is a mission too far. The remarks came as the British aid chief held hostage in Iraq was shown in a new videotape pleading tearfully with Prime Minister Tony Blair not to send troops to Baghdad.
