Altre informazioni:
Granada is a popular tourist destination in Andalucia, Spain on account of its fascinating cultural history and the Alhambra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that contains within its walls fine examples of Moorish architecture and gardens. Dating back to 889 the complex has over the centuries attracted historians, architects and writers and now limits the number of visitors to 6, 600 a day. However out of season the hilltop site is capable of absorbing the numbers amongst its varied architectural wonders and extensive water featured gardens. European travelers and scholarly institutions really ‘discovered’ the Alhambra in the 19th Century and since then the fortress, palace and water gardens have undergone a number of restorations. Work on the architecturally complex and intricate structures continues and scaffolding and restricted access areas are often in evidence. Set on Mount Mauror park offers elevated views to the north over the residential rooftops and culturally rich city of Granada and to the south the snow capped Sierra Nevada mountains. It is a justifiably popular destination for tourists and well worth braving the complex ticketing procedure to gain access.
