But perhaps, many of workers can't celebrate the day due to low income such as many labours at Paotere Port experienced. Men labours in Paotere Port earn their living as a porter to carry sack of cement, rice, flour and bean on their back. They are obliged to live as a small labor and bound to it routine, forced to works all day only for gain a few money. They only get paid between Rp.15.000 (USD 1.33) and Rp.30.000 (USD 2.67) per day. Paotere is the harbour in the north of Makassar where traditional Buginese sailing boats (phinisi) load and unload their cargo.
