General view of the Frankfurt Christmas Market in Birmingham - The largest authentic German market in the world, outside Germany and Austria, which stretches for over a mile and attracted over four million visitors last year from all over the UK and Europe. The largest authentic German Christmas Market outside Germany and Austria has opened for its 13th year in BIRMINGHAM. Festive frankfurters, hot Gluhwein and sweet pretzels are all available at the 190 stalls which stretch for more than ONE MILE in the city centre. The world-famous Frankfurt Christmas Market attracted over FOUR MILLION visitors last year from all over Britain and Europe. And bosses hope this year's will be even more successful with the return of the 600 sq metre outdoor ice rink after a six year absence. There is also a big wheel at one end of the market in Centenary Square giving a bird's eye view of the 'second city'. Since beginning with just 24 stalls in 2001, the popular market is now eight times bigger and stretches over a mile from the Bullring to the International Conference Centre.
