Concorde - the ultimate 'Speedbird' - only 20 aircraft were built including the six prototypes. Such an elegant aircraft! British Airways Concorde G-BOAD (c/n 210) is seen here on tow in the BA maintenance area of London Heathrow airport. Another of the Concorde fleet can be seen behind. G-BOAD was unique in being the only BA Concorde to have been painted in a livery other than British Airways or Air France - carrying Singapore Airlines livery on the left side only. The aircraft was assigned to the Singapore route which started on 09 December 1977. The aircraft was repainted with the Singapore Airlines livery on the left side only, with BA livery on the right - an unusual combination. The Singapore service was ended on 01 November 1980. The aircraft was given the dual registration of G-N94AD between 1979 and 1980 for joint flights with Braniff Airways, with the 'G' being taped over for internal flights within the USA. I believe this was to get around US certification rules requiring the aircraft to be registered in the USA. Concorde 210 history: - First Registered as G-BOAD on 9th May 1975 to the British Aircraft Corporation Ltd. - G-BOAD was delivered to British Airways on 6th Dec 1976. - Re-registered as G-N94AD / N94AD by British Airways / Braniff Airways from 5th Jan 1979 until 19th June 1980 - to allow the aircraft to be flown within the USA - The only BA Concorde to have been painted in another lvery - the aircraft carried Singapore Airlines livery on one side only, whilst BA operated a joint service with Singapore Airlines in 1979-80. - Final flight on 10th Nov 2003 from LHR to JFK. - Retired from service and now preserved at the Intrepid Air and Space Museum on a temporary barge next to the USS Intrepid, in the heart of New York.
