Holliday Street, Birmingham 13th December 2023 - Roads close to Birmingham city centre remain sealed off for over 30 hours as a man remains in hospital in a 'serious condition' after he was is found 'Critically injured' in the inner city area close to the nightclub strip, Broad Street and the city's register office. Police first attended the scene at 3:20am on Tuesday 12th December and placed a large cordon spanning both Holliday Street where a blue tent was erected on a path and Gas Street that runs parallel above. A West Midlands Police forensics officer in a white suit took pictures today (13 December) of the wall immediately above the blue tent, suggesting the victim scaled the wall and fell to the ground below. The investigating officer also photographed the scene and took swabs from inside the blue evidence tent. Police tweeted on Tuesday: 'We're investigating after a man was found badly injured on Holliday Street in Birmingham city centre today (12th). 'We were called by paramedics just after 3.20am. 'The man was taken to hospital in a serious condition. 'Holliday Street is closed between Bridge Street and Granville Street. Gas Street is also closed.' Today (13th), West Midlands Police updated their response saying: 'Our enquiries are still ongoing after a man was found with injuries on Holliday Street, Birmingham city centre yesterday. 'The man remains in hospital in a serious condition. 'The police scene currently remains in place as we continue our enquiries.' WEST MIDLANDS AMBULANCE STATEMENT (12th December): We were called at 3.17am to a medical emergency on Holliday Street, Birmingham. ‘Two ambulances, two paramedic officers and a MERIT (Medical Emergency Response and Intervention Team) trauma doctor and critical care paramedic attended the scene. ‘Upon arrival, we found a man in a critical condition. ‘He received advanced trauma care from ambulance staff at the scene which continued en route to University Hospital Birmingham.’ ENDS
