BAIC (Beijing Automotive Industry Corporation) on Monday (29 March 2011) unveiled its all-new Weiwang brand for its planned minivan lineup and the first model to bear it, Weiwang 306 (BC306Z), stepping closer to the goal of selling 900, 000 vehicles of its own brands in 2015. Weiwang minivans will be manufactured at BAICs Zhuzhou factory in Hunan, where subcompact sedans are also produced. When fully completed, the Zhuzhou factory can churn out up to 200, 000 vehicles a year. Weiwang 306 (BC306Z), the first in the Weiwang lineup, has a wheelbase of 2700mm, a body length of 4030mm, and a cargo space of 5 cubic meters. When not carrying goods, it can accommodate as many as 8 people. The 1.3-liter engine (LJ474Q3E2), made by Liuzhou Wuling Liuji Power, is a popular choice among Chinese minivans, and can put out a maximum 60.5kw of power and 102Nm of torque. The vehicle is priced between 36, 000 yuan (US$5, 488) and 43, 000 yuan (US$6, 555).
