This is the oriental dwarf kingfisher. Panvel, India: THESE COLOURFUL images reveal how this greedy bird is still a successful predator despite being so bright as to be nicknamed ?the colour bomb?. One image shows the oriental dwarf kingfisher feasting on prey as diverse as frogs and insects, highlighted by its vivid blue, purple and yellow colours. These images were captured by Dhawal Surana (26) in Panvel India, using a Canon 5D Mark IV camera. ?The following picture was clicked during the breeding season of bird, ? said Dhawal. ?After the new born chicks are born both the parents keep feeding them for approximately thirty minutes with all different sets of kills. Both the parents are equally responsible for feeding the new ones. ?Moments and shots like these just keep you spellbound and just teach you nature and jungle has its own rules. ?They teach you so much about importance of patience in life.? The oriental dwarf kingfisher, also known as as the colour bomb, is only 14 centimeters tall and weighs only 20 grams. They have also been nicknamed the three toed kingfisher as this particular species of kingfisher has only three toes. ?It is always a lovely feeling to be up close to these beautiful creatures, ? said Dhawal. ?I cherish every moment spend in wild even if I miss a shot or get a great shot. ?I learn so much and these pictures are just a beautiful moment to cherish for lifetime.? mediadrumimages/DhawalSurana
