The mill was built in 1801 to replace a mill that was wrecked in a severe storm on November 9, 1800. The groundsheet is covered with roofing and has a flight of 20.16 meters. The mill has great landscape value and was in operation until 1955. Restoration followed in 1970/71 and the mill was able to run again after 16 years. The municipality of Veere is the owner since 1998. Nowadays there is still some regular grinding, for example for animal feed. The mill also has a model mill, Het Unicum, which was built in 1957 by millmaker Klaas de Troye from Middelburg.
