The VTB Capital Garden brings together original music, ballet, garden design, sculpture and architecture to create a garden inspired by the work of Barbara Hepworth. Rooted in her love of Cornwall, the garden is designed by Stuart Charles Towner, BA (Hons) winner of Best in Show Award and Gold Medal at Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, 2015 and other awards including a BALI National Award and an APL Award & two RHS awards. The 2015 RHS garden can be viewed on www.greenseam.co.uk The VTB Capital Garden is the product of a unique collaboration of a team of creative minds not usually seen in garden design, bringing together garden design, musical composition, architecture, sculpture, production and dance. On Press day, the Garden will host a live performance by award-winning Constella OperaBallet, (www.constella.org.uk) showcasing music composed by Artistic Director and conductor Leo Geyer and dance choreographed by Sarah Louise-Kiristiansen. The piece will be danced by Alice Oakley- Jones and performed by Rachel Maby (mezzo-soprano), Philippa Mo (violin), Joshua Hayward (viola), Michael Newman (cello) and Olivia Jageurs (harp), with costume by Sebastian Freeburn. The music was first performed in the presence of the Hepworth family in 2015. Tate St Ives commissioned a second composition, performed on the 40th anniversary of Hepworth’s own garden at Tate St. Ives 2016 with the support of Sophie Bowness. A cover conductor at the Royal Opera House, Leo has also recently been working on Amadeus at the National Theatre. The metal work that runs throughout the garden forming its backbone, is a physical manifestation of the music taken from the sound-wave pattern with its peak becoming the garden pavilion, a space designed by award winning architectural practice Studio Evans Lane www.studioevanslane.com. Like the continuous thread of a piece of music, the metal work creates a connective thread between all the spaces, with the spines that run the length of the gard
