The puppet theatre collection of the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden (SKD), one of the largest of its kind in the world, will open its doors at its new location on 7 September: the power plant Mitte will not only house 12, 000 marionettes, hand puppets and other theatre figures on around 2, 600 square metres, but also entire stages and the extensive archive, a total of over 100, 000 objects, will find an appropriate place.
