The giant sculpture of Fuxi, a culture hero in Chinese legends and mythology, is being carved from stone at an abandoned stone pit in Xiangyang city, central China's Hubei province, 13 June 2019. Two giant rock carvings featuring an ancient Chinese poet and a Chinese legendary hero will open to public soon in Xianshan Mountain in Xiangyang city, central China's Hubei province. One represents Meng Haoran, an eminent poet of the Tang Dynasty (618-907) who was born in Xiangyang, and the other Fuxi, a legendary hero in ancient China, whose body is believed to have been buried in the city. The statue of Fuxi, the largest of its kind in China, represents his face, 70.5 meters tall and 230 meters long. Located to the south of Fuxi, Meng's statue measures 50 meters high and 90 meters long, featuring his well-known poem "Spring Dawn" as well as bamboos, books and ink brushes.
