London, UK. 24th May 2016. Five six-foot monkey installations are positioned across Westminster Bridge to help launch the Body Shop's new Bio-Bridges programme which aims to regenerate 75 million square metres of forest and protect it from exploitation, poaching and unsustainable harvesting. The Body Shop is working with conservation experts the World Land Trust to identify endangered areas around the world and develop wildlife corridors, Bio-Bridges, to help endangered species reconnect, breed and travel safely across deforested or degraded lands. The installation of the monkeys marks the launch of the programme which will be funded through customer transactions. The monkeys represent a rare and endangered species, the Red Shanked Douc, which is found in the Khe Nuoc Trong forest in North Central Vietnam, where The Body Shop’s first Bio-Bridges project will be located.
