This house in the center of Moià is a stately building from the 17th century with notable architectural and artistic value. But if there is something that makes it special, it is that around 1660 Rafael Casanova was born, the protagonist of the defense of Barcelona on September 11, 1714. Casanova was the son of a wealthy family from Moià dedicated to the grain and wool trade. His well-to-do situation can be seen in the characteristics of the house, especially its richly decorated interior. Formed by a ground floor, a first floor and an attic, with a rear garden and a basement, the main facade stands out, with sgraffito. Currently, the house hosts an exhibition that shows the keys to the 1714 conflict: from the outbreak of an international war to determine the successor to the Spanish crown after the death of Carlos II without issue, to the fall of the city of Barcelona at the hands of the Bourbon troops, while Rafael Casanova was responsible for the defense of the city as counselor and commander of the Coronela.
